What is brand identity?

Brand identity is the face of the brand. Brand identity includes all the visual elements associated with your brand such as color, design, and logo. These elements identify and distinguish the brand in consumers' minds.

There are 7 steps to building your brand identity:

Step 1: Establish your business goals and personality

Spet 2: Research your audience, value proposition, and competition

Step 3: Design your logo and branding

Step 4: Choose a color palette

Step 5: Decide on your typography

Step 6: Create supporting graphics

Step 7: Create a brand guidelines document to compile everything

Your brand style guide should include:

The brand color palette, including exact color codes.

The typography used for titles, subtitles, and everything else.

How and when to use the logo, wordmark and brand mark.

Brand images, illustrations, icons, and data visualizations, as needed.

Consistency is key for establishing your brand identity. A strong brand style guide will help you to uphold consistency. Brand guidelines should be accessible to anyone who might create designs for your brand and anyone who might use your brand’s logos.
