Celebrating International Women's Day

March 8, 2022

International Women’s Day is a celebration and recognition of the social, economic, cultural, and political contributions women have made. Here at Fifty Six, we are honored to be a female-founded agency, with a team composed almost entirely of women. Our founder, Katelyn Glass, has over 15 years of experience in marketing- but her desire to create something bigger than herself led to the founding of Fifty Six in the beginning of 2021. Shortly afterwards, our Chief of Staff, Zoe, joined the team, and the Fifty Six dream team was established.  Katelyn and Zoe run Fifty Six with efficiency and speed, providing high-level strategies and solutions to each of our clients. Without them, Fifty Six wouldn’t be the same.

Fifty Six isn’t the first successful female-founded business, and certainly won’t be the last. For International Women’s Day, let’s explore the significant impact women have made. Women-owned businesses represent 31% of the total small-business population in the United States in 2021, continuing to grow at 3% average every year since 2014. Overall, women-owned businesses represent almost half of all businesses in the United States. Considering that women weren’t allowed to receive a loan without a male relative to co-sign until 1988, the progress made since has been undeniable. Women owned businesses are a strong, driving force in our economy. In just 2019, purchases from women-owned businesses contributed $1.8 trillion dollars to the American economy. Women are excelling in business, and Fifty Six is proud to be one of them.

I have seen firsthand the impact that women can do for small businesses. On every day of work, I am surrounded by some of the most impactful and intelligent women, working hard everyday at something they legitimately care about. In any industry, it’s incredibly difficult to find a group of people so willing to work together diligently and consistently- you need to have the right leadership to make it work. Luckily for us, our founder, Katelyn, and Chief of Staff, Zoe, are the best in the business.
